Hello and welcome to the website for the Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu Hawk Cove Study Group.
We are a small group of Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu students dedicated to the study of Daito-ryu and related combative arts. We study under Kondo Katsuyuki sensei of Tokyo, Japan (for more information and history: http://www.daito-ryu.org/). Daito-ryu is an old style Japanese martial arts system focusing on unarmed grappling and arresting techniques as well as samurai weapon use and defense. We also study the basic components of Kashima Shinden Jikishinkage-ryu Kenjutsu an ancient school of Japanese fencing. We are fortunate to be able to use the training space at Baltimore Brazilian Jiujitsu located at 412 Eastern Blvd. Essex, MD 21221 on Friday evenings and Sunday mornings.
Unlike modern martial arts schools we do not teach or study for profit. Potential students must meet with the instructors and watch several classes before being allowed on the mat. Group dynamics and comradery are more important to us than tuition and having a large number of students.
